NEW YORK, April 9, 2017 (SNN 24/7) – Toronto Raptors defeated New York Knicks by 110-97 in New York on Sunday to claim at least the number three seed in the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs.
Demar DeRozan was the star of the night for the Raptors as he contributed 35 points to the cause of victory, which was the 50th victory for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA 2017. This is their second straight season with 50 or more victories.
Another victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors would end the regular season on top of the standings, provided Boston Celtics lost their final two games of the season.
Apart from Demar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry also chipped in with 17 points and 11 assists as the Raptors swept the Knicks for the first time in seven years.
On the other hand, New York Knicks put rookie Willy Hernangomez in the middle and the youngster didn’t disappoint as he tied his NBA career high with 24 points besides grabbing 11 rebounds. The Knicks rested most of their key players in the game and still put up a great show as they trailed by only one point at 76-75 after three quarters. However, Toronto were able to open behind the 3-point line and capture their third straight win.
Toronto Raptors will meet Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. This season, the Cavaliers have won all of their games against the Raptors.
