LONDON, April 11, 2017 (SNN 24/7) – Crystal Palace stunned Arsenal 3-0 at Selhurt Park in England in one of the most interesting developments in the English Premier League 2017 late on Monday.
The shocking loss fatally hurt the Arsenal’s ambitions of finishing among the top-four teams in the League. A top-four finish the EPL 2017 would ensure a direct qualification in the next year’s UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal are still three points behind Manchester United after 30 games in the season. Manchester United are scheduled to take on the league leaders Chelsea FC in one of the most-anticipated matches of the EPL 2017 on Sunday. A victory in that match will give the Red Devils the required boost to target the top-three finish. Liverpool have 63 points from 32 matches, Manchester City have 61 points from 31 matches, whereas Manchester United have 57 points from 30 matches.
English Premier League Gets Intriguing
Manchester City are set to take on Southampton on Saturday whereas Liverpool FC will be up against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. In another crucial match in the upcoming EPL weekend, Tottenham Hotspur will play AFC Bournemouth. A victory in this match will once again put pressure on the Chelsea who will have to shoot for full three points against Manchester United to maintain their seven-point advantage on top of the ladder.
Crystal Palace on a ROLL
The 3-0 victory against Arsenal was exactly what the doctor would have ordered for Crystal Palace. They made a leap away from the relegation zone in a boisterous fashion. The Palace are currently 16th in the points table with 34 points from 31 matches.
The Crystal Palace were buoyed by goals from Andros Townsend, Yohan Cabaye, and Luka Milivojevic. The Palace have now won four of their last five matches. They now look in a great shape to avoid the humiliation of relegation. Palace have six more points than Swansea City, who are the best among the three teams facing the threat of relegation.
Arsene Wenger in a FIX
The Arsenal manager has been under pressure since January as his side has managed to win only two games since then. Arsene Wenger told SkySports, “It’s damaging of course. That’s the most difficult thing for us tonight.”
