Skipper to play at 5 in home series against Sri Lanka

KARACHI, September 27, 2019 ( – In a much awaited one day international home series after the drought of 10 years, Pakistan cricket team skipper Sarfraz Ahmed vows to play good cricket against Sri Lanka.

Addressing to press conference, Pakistan skipper said that “we all have waited for this occasion for the last 10 years and we will play our best cricket against visiting Sri Lanka.”

Sarfraz Ahmed will captain Pakistan at home soil for the first time in his career. He further said that Pakistan Cricket Board has made remarkable job in bringing cricket back to Pakistan and convincing Sri Lankan Cricket Board to play ODI & T20I series in Pakistan.

On a question regarding his batting position, he said “I had a detailed discussion with coach & chief selector Misbah ul Haq and I will play at No. 5.” Pakistan have dropped two senior all rounders Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik from one day squad.

Talking about his fitness, he said “no cricketer can play cricket if he is not fit and I am equally working on my form and fitness.”

Regarding pitch & out field condition, he said “pitch is covered for last few days and we didn’t get a chance to look at the pitch. Obviously when there is rain, there is water.”

Sri Lankan skipper Lahiru Thirimanne said that, “I am visiting Pakistan for the first time and cricket should be revived in Pakistan. We have been given great security and hospitality & I urge international teams to play cricket in Pakistan.”

PCB also announced commentary panel for Sri Lanka series which include Alan Wilkins, Wasim Akram, Roshan Abeysinghe, Ramiz Raja & Bazid Khan. DRS will also available to both teams with the help of Hawk Eye.

The first one day international match will be played on Friday 27th September 2019 and we have weather forecast of rain in afternoon in Karachi.
