KARACHI, October 6, 2019 ( – World number four Naomi Osaka of Japan applied the never-say-die attitude to win the China Open 2019 tennis tournament, her second straight title in Asia, in Beijing, China on Sunday.

With this victory, Naomi Osaka extended her winning run to 10 matches. Her last-16 exit in the US Open 2019, gave birth to the amazing winning streak which has led her to the China Open title triumph.

In the title match, Osaka got under the skin of the world number one Ashleigh Barty of Australia. Barty got off to a rollicking start to the last match of the tournament. However, Osaka adjusted her game accordingly and won two straight sets to seal the deal by 3-6 6-3 6-2 in an hour and 50 minutes in Beijing.

Ashleigh Barty of Australia loses China Open final.

The China Open triumph was Osaka’s third title of the year and the fifth of her WTA career. This was her second straight victory after clinching Pan Pacific Open in Japan last month.

Talking to the presenter after winning the 2019 China Open, Naomi Osaka said, “In this tournament, I was not calm as I normally am. I threw my racquet at least once every match. I felt like I had something to prove.”

Osaka, who is a two-time Grand Slam champion, rates China Open title victory as one of her best. It is only the second premier WTA crown for the Japanese tennis player.

It was more like sweet revenge for Naomi Osaka as Ashleigh Barty replaced her on top of the WTA Rankings earlier this year.

Osaka stated, “I was telling myself to keep fighting even though my attitude was really trash. I just really wanted to win here.”

The victory in China Open will lift the Japanese player to the third place in the WTA Rankings on Monday.
