World Cup 2022 Qualifier: No Goal in Korean Derby to separate two teams

KARACHI, October 16, 2019 ( – The much awaited and most hyped second round match of Group H World Cup 2022 Qualifiers between host North Korea and visitor South Korea ended in a goalless draw at Pyongyang on Tuesday evening.

It is a shame that the match wasn’t broadcast live as soccer lovers failed to witness one of the most entertaining qualifiers matches for World Cup 2022 Qatar. It is also pertinent to mention here that the stadium was full of North Korean supporters as North Korea didn’t issue visas to any South Korean soccer fans to travel to North Korea in support of their team.

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in North Korea and their soccer team also done well on the international arena as well but the North Korean authorities had made international match to mere domestic encounter.

It is sad to note that no foreign tourists who were on tourism in North Korea were allowed to watch the match in the stadium. Previously the world cup qualifiers between South & North Korea either played in South Korea or in third country. Like in 2010 World Cup qualifier, North Korea’s home matches were hosted by Shanghai China.

With the goalless draw, South Korea still leading the chart table of Group H with better goal average while North Korea is at second place on the table.
