DHAKA, October 29, 2019 (SNN247.com) – In a recent development, the star Bangladeshi all-rounder and skipper Shakib-ul-Hasan has been slapped with two-year ban by International Cricket Council for breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption code.

Shakib-ul-Hasan was approached by blacklisted bookie two years ago which he denied but failed to report to governing body’s Anti-Corruption unit which is mandatory for the players.

Shakib has accepted the charges & punishment and was extremely disappointed. “I am obviously extremely sad to have been banned from the game I love, but I completely accept my sanction for not reporting the approaches.

The cricket governing body ICC is very severe on restricting role of bookies and offers made to players. ICC ACU is totally dependent on players to play a key role in identifying bad elements which are hurting the image and credibility of the game.

The ban on Shakib will hurt Bangladesh very badly as ICC World T20 2020 is just around the corner which will be hosted by Australia. Bangladesh cricket team is heavily depending on the performance of Shakib-ul-Hasan. He was also a star and top performer for Bangladesh in recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 held at England which was won by host nation.
