Manchester City entered the last-eight stage of the prestigious FA Cup tournament with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield, thanks to a second-half goal by Argentinian import Sergio Aguero at Hillsborough, Sheffield.
On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur were dealt a massive blow when they were undone by Norwich City in a penalty shootout. What was more agonizing for Jose Mourinho was the fact that his side lost to a team that is languishing in the bottom in the English Premier League 2020.
The match was exciting right from the start to the end as both sides finished at 1-1 after the regulation time. It could have never happened for Norwich City if they keeper Tim Krul didn’t save two penalties in the shootout. This was the fourth successive defeat for Tottenham Hotspur.
Leicester City also gave them a reason to cheer this season when they edged out Birmingham City 1-0 to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash against Chelsea FC. Ricardo Pereira’s header separated the two sides at the end of the play.
Sheffield United will be up against 13-time FA Cup champions Arsenal FC. Manchester City will travel all the way to take on Newcastle United in their quarter-final whereas Norwich City will have to wait for another night to know their opponent in the last-eight round.
Manchester United will take on Derby County for the final quarter-final berth in the FA Cup 2020 on Thursday night. The Red Devils will look to add some spice to their somewhat indifferent 2020 season with a victory over Derby County. They are currently the fifth-best side in the English Premier League 2020 with 42 points from 28 matches.
