KARACHI, March 6, 2020 (SNN247.com) –The historic fifth edition of Pakistan Super League is reaching its decisive stage but it franchises also showing poor load management for fast bowlers as three stars sustained injury.
After showing poor load management by Lahore Qalandars, the young Pakistani fast bowling sensation Naseem Shah also suffered an injury during the match against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday night at Rawalpindi.
Naseem Shah has become the main weapon of Quetta Gladiators along with young Muhammad Hasnain and was part of playing eleven of every Gladiators match. Lahore Qalandars also failed to manage the workload of pace batteries Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf as both are not part of the Qalandars playing team.
Enough Chances for Aqib Javed
It is important to mention here that all these three fast bowlers are part of national team playing eleven as Haris Rauf just made his T20 international debut against Bangladesh while Naseem Shah is a prominent rising star in international test cricket as he just took international test hat-trick against Bangladesh and won Man of the Match award.
Shaheen Shah Afridi is a regular member of the Pakistan national team in all three international formats and he also suffered an injury playing for Lahore Qalandars. Pakistan PSL franchises should learn from BBL as Harris Rauf’s workload managed brilliantly by Melbourne Stars as wasn’t part of every match and not even bowled sometime with his full quota of overs.
It is disappointing to see the performance of Aqib Javed as he not failed to convert Lahore Qalandars on winning track for the fifth consecutive year but also failed to manage the workload of two of premier Pakistan fast bowlers Shaheed Shah and Harris Rauf.
Fast Bowlers are Suffering
Quetta Gladiators also has Abdul Razzaq as bowling coach but his team performance is also very questionable especially in the last ten overs of the innings. Quetta Gladiators leaked 130+ runs in the last 10 overs of the innings for the third consecutive match of PSLV. They seemed to be still struggling to get out of shock given by Rilee Rossow.
Pakistan Cricket Board should step in to make a proper plan on workload management of the fast bowlers while playing for the franchise in leagues.
