LOS ANGELES, USA, March 8, 2020 (SNN247.com) – Los Angeles Lakers continued their winning streak as they won the all-important Los Angeles derby against LA Clippers by 112-103 here at Staples Center on Sunday.
LeBron James star for Lakers
This is Lakers’ second high profile victory in three days as they defeated Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night by 113-103. LeBron James was again star performer for Lakers as after scoring 37 points against Bucks, LeBron scored 28 points today with 9 assists and 7 rebounds while Anthony Davis scored 30 points with 2 assists and 8 rebounds. Avery Bradley was also impressive against Clippers as he not only defend well but also scored 24 points.
Lakers won the first quarter by 27-25 while the Clippers bounced back in the second quarter with 28-22 and were leading at half time by 53-49. Lakers fought back in the third quarter with 36-28 and also took the fourth and decisive quarter by 27-22 to win the match by 112-103.
Kawhi Leonard scored 27 points for the Clippers while Paul George scored 31 points but their effort was not enough to win the match.
In other matches played on Sunday, Brooklyn Nets won the nail biter against Chicago Bulls by 110-107. Bulls were leading in the first quarter by 23-22 but Nets came back strongly in the second quarter by 36-27 and leading the half time by 58-50.
Nets too good for Bulls
Chicago Bulls tried their best to make a comeback but Nets were too good to maintain their second-quarter lead till the end although they were behind Bulls in the third and fourth quarters. Spencer Dinwiddie scored 24 points for Nets while Joe Harris and Caris LeVert scored 23 points each. Otto Porter Jr. scored 23 points for Bull while Coby White scored 21 in a losing cause.
New Orleans Pelicans defeated Minnesota Timberwolves by 120-107 thanks to a brilliant performance by Jrue Holiday who scored 37 points. He got good support from Zion Williamson who scored 23 points.
Los Angeles Lakers are still leading the Western Conference table. LA Clippers are at second spot followed by Denver Nuggets an Utah Jazz. Milwaukee Bucks leading the Eastern Conference while Toronto Raptors are in second place followed by Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
LA Lakers, Bucks and Raptors have already clinched the play-offs berth.
