LONDON, England, June 5, 2020 (SNN247.com) – Timo Werner, the star German footballer, is all set to make his Premier League debut as Chelsea is closing on to finalize the release clause of £54 million with RB Leipzig.
The Leipzig striker, who is in prime form this Bundesliga season, has already scored 25 goals in just 29 appearances to take his club at third place on the points table. Chelsea is fighting with Manchester United to retain his fourth spot in the Premier League points table and also eyeing to strengthen its qualifying for Champions League.
Werner’s outstanding performance in the season has already caught the attention of other premier clubs like Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid. Earlier Timo Werner revealed his wish to play for Premier League rather than transfer to another German club Bayern Munich and Liverpool was his first choice. Jurgen Klopp was also interested in bringing Werner to Anfield but Liverpool was cautious about the deal amid the financial constraints due to coronavirus.
Werner was warned by former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley to join Liverpool as it will be difficult for him to get a guaranteed spot in the Liverpool playing XI. Burley also commented on Chelsea’s interest in signing Werner and said, “I’m not surprised Chelsea would be interested, he ticks every box for them.”
Tammy Abraham is the first choice for Chelsea in 2019-20 season while Frank Lampard is all set to make few additions as Premier League is resuming in June after COVID-19 pandemic break. The star German striker will be back in action this Saturday as Leipzig is all set to take on Paderborn. Timo Werner with 25 goals in the season is also in the race for the Golden Boot as he is only trailing by four goals.
Bayern’s star Robert Lewandowski is the leading goal scorer of Bundesliga 2019-20 with 29 goals in the season.
