Bayern Munich beat Leverkusen to maintain top in Bundesliga

BERLIN, Germany, June 7, 2020 ( – Bayern Munich came from behind as they strengthened their top position in Bundesliga 2019-20 season by beating Leverkusen 4-2 on the all-important weekend encounter.

Lucas Alario scored the opening goal of the match in the 9th minute to give Leverkusen lead against Bayern Munich. Kingsley Coman scored the equalizer for Bayern Munich in the 27th minute of the first half. Leon Goretzka scored the second goal in the 42nd minute of the match for Bayern Munich.

Serge Gnabry scored the third goal of Bayern Munich in the injury time of the first half as table leaders finished the first half by 3-1. Robert Lewandowski further strengthened Bayern Munich’s lead by scoring the fourth goal in the 66th minute of the match. Florian Wirtz pulled one back for Leverkusen as he scored the second goal in the 89th minute of the match.

The score remained 4-2 at the end of the second half. Bayern Munich now leading the points table with 70 points in 30 games. Leverkusen is still in fifth place with 56 points in 30 matches. Monchengladbach still in fourth place with 56 points in 30 games even after losing to SC Freiburg 1-0 on Friday.

Leipzig Settle for a Draw

In another nail-biting weekend encounter, Leipzig has to settle for a draw against Paderborn due to injury-time equalizer by Christian Strohdiek in the 92nd minute of the match. Patrick Schick scored the opening goal of the match in the 27th minute to give Leipzig lead. Leipzig suffered a big blow just before the end of the first half. Dayot Upamecano was served red card in the 43rd minute of the match. The score was 1-0 at half time.

BR Leipzig is still at third place on Bundesliga points table with 59 points in 30 matches while Paderborn is at bottom of the table with 20 points in 30 matches. Dortmund is still at second place in the points table after their Friday night victory over Hertha by 1-0.
